19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from that period of that year.
Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.
However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour championship, took control to create a final set.
He defended 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
