Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can expect learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
